‘Muhurat’ babies
I had heard about this earlier. But never thought it would become so popular. Delivering babies at an auspicious time, apparently, has become a fad.
A few days back, Hindustan Times had an article on this. Gynecologists working at odd hours to do C-sections during the ‘muhurat’ fixed by astrologers and taking rest during ‘raahu kaal’! Once followed only by the affluent class, this nonsense has now been picked up by the middle-class. Great! Way to go!
Safe C-sections are possible because of advances in science. We are using the science to follow unscientific practices!
I hope someone will do study on these ‘muhurat’ babies and find out how they excel in their lives. Just curious. :-)

That will be just great! Your piece reminded me of a person who was born in hut, on a mud floor. And worst of all, he laid there for hours without getting his umbilical chord cut. The reason was, their family belonged to the lowest rung of castes and nobody was willing to do that. Finally he was separated from his mother with a sharpened bamboo stick. The man, Mani Bhaumik, grew up to work with the prestigious Bell Labs in the US and was instrumental in the invention of LASER!
I dont think this is a sane thing to do..
One does not really know how many of these C sections were necessary. That is another scam. And the muhurat ... if it was so easy to script one's life...

quite distressing, the way we take over from nature.
The baby's future will depend upon the time it was formed in the womb & it is based on this calculation that astrology was formed. Doctors can mint money through C - sections & this is a nice way of cheating people by cashing in on their beliefs. 'Akshaya thrirhiya' jewel purchase is also a plot by the jewellers to mint money during a time when the price of gold will be the highest.

astrology has become a very serious biz these days. It has seeped inside every life and even the most mundane activities are done according to astrological rituals and rules.. sick!
